I love this so much and how you captured the evolution of Hayley’s and Paramore’s politics. Franklin is also my favourite song off the album and the comparison with True Believer is so enlightening. (Also made me think of Phoebe Bridgers’ Scott Street as a younger cousin of Franklin, but with more awareness of how “everything has changed”.)

Thank you ❤️ and oh gosh yes about scott street!! I totally can see the songs being cousins 🥺🥺 but while Franklin is mournful and wants to go back, scott street grieves but is already walking ahead

I love this post, and the story of Paramore so much, and Hayley's new album, and True Believer, and its Strange Fruit/Hard Bargain references, and the way you captured all of this complexity and reckoning and lyrical/historical trajectory in this reflection. Love your writing as alwayssss.
